The Explorer – Experience the great outdoors without roughing it

The Explorer is a hand crafted 4 x 4 vehicle, developed to enable small groups of adventurers to enjoy experiences varying from pristine World Heritage National Parks to the remote Outback of Australia.

Although many vehicles travel into the Outback, The Explorer has been designed to travel off the bitumen roads, enabling access to special and unique locations that other travellers only get to hear about after their trip is finished.

The Explorer is based on a Mitsubishi Canter cab and chassis, which was purchased new in 2005. All major components were re designed, with particular attention being paid to suspension, fuel and water capabilities and safety and comfort of adventurers.

The coachwork of The Explorer reflects the priority given to adventurer’s safety, comfort and convenience. To ensure safety, all seats are fitted with seat belts, there is a fully equipped first aid kit at hand and Peter and Jo are both fully qualified in Remote Area First Aid. The Explorer is satellite phone equipped to enable contact with the Royal Flying Doctor Service for medical emergency, and has GPS to assist with navigation.

To assist with comfort, seat numbers have been sacrificed and the best reclining seats for this type of experience have been fitted. Double capacity air conditioning provides personal comfort with ease on the hottest of days, large ambulance tint windows enable viewing of our unique and sometimes abundant flora and fauna. Major suspension changes enables The Explorer to soak up rough sections of the track, thereby allowing peaceful pastimes to be pursued in comfort.

Convenience is well catered for on The Explorer. A top of the range audio visual system ensures the kilometres pass quickly when they have to, individual UHF stereo headphones will give each adventurer the choice of DVD or MP3 music during these occasions. An inverter supplies household 240v power to ensure your electronic ‘gadgets’ stay fully charged (you need to supply your own battery charger). Fridge, freezer and water on tap will keep you refreshed in even the remotest of areas.
