EXPERIENCE THE GREAT OUTDOORS WITHOUT ROUGHING IT

Issue 2 : October 2006

We send you this edition just prior to leaving for the Strzelecki Desert in what has become one of our signature expeditions. We enjoy this experience so much that we will commence next season with this same expedition, and then continue through the winter months with some terrific projects.

You will notice that some of the Coming Events have hot links directly into our website, we aspire to have all articles with this facility in the near future (easier said than done!)

The favourable comments regarding our first Newsletter were very much appreciated; we hope that we continue to inspire thoughts of adventure by way of small group travel well into the future.

What's been happening?

Christmas in July – Nymboida

The last of our Christmas in July excursions was to the old stage coach station at Nymboida, west of Grafton. What a terrific place!! We followed the Clarence River south from Tabulam, taking morning tea and Jo’s great lunch right beside the gently flowing river (What, no dunnies!! These were true nature stops). Each of the spa rooms overlooked the Nymboida River, with Platypus sightings for the early risers. Christmas offerings were definitely up to scratch. Wine over lunch and the return foray along the beach (together with a perfect day) was a fitting end to a great ‘short break’ weekend and definitely on the agenda for next year.

Research trip to Alice Springs

Our desire to focus on our core business of conducting expeditions into the Outback led us to the far west of Queensland to check on the suitability of some ‘new’ country. In particular we were looking at devising several expeditions that are camping based. This allows more remote areas to be explored and have we found some great country! Bloody awful roads eventually led us through the Northern Territory border to the iconic town of Alice Springs. This allowed us the ability to explorer the imposing and extremely beautiful West McDonald Ranges from a central location. The return trip along the Oodnadatta Track, North Flinders Ranges etc has convinced us once again that the Outback of Australia is truly still in our blood. We have 2 expeditions planned for the 2nd half of 2007 (based on this trip), details will be released shortly!

Corporate Teambuilding and Personal Development Program

A group of high profile Financial Planners and their staff from the Gold Coast recently joined us for our Corporate Teambuilding and Personal Development Program. The object of Day 1 was to show the group that by working as a team, simple and complicated tasks can be completed in a most enjoyable manner. By the completion of the day, both the team as a whole and each individual member had been pushed well beyond their comfort zone with some surprising results. The bush huts and camaraderie around the camp fire (very large!!) that night, together with the day in the World Heritage National Park, made for an unforgettable experience. The Testimonial from this corporate group infers that major benefits have been extracted from the experience, encouraging us to develop a 2 & 3 day program for corporate Australia. Further information will be available shortly.

Ballina RSL Club Alliance

We are very proud to announce that The Explorer Experience has been chosen by the Ballina RSL Club as the only local tour company to be associated with their recently announced ‘Ballina RSL Travel Club’. Marketing Manager Cathie Johnston said, ‘Peter and Jo invite Ballina RSL Club Ltd members to travel in the comfort and safety of their purpose built 4 wheel drive coach with small groups of up to 10 adventurers. Discounts are available to members, ranging from 2.5% to 10%”. This heralds a new level of marketing opportunity for our business, with more prospective travellers now being able to access information relating to our remote area adventures.
