EXPERIENCE THE GREAT OUTDOORS WITHOUT ROUGHING IT

Issue 4 : September 2007

The cooler months of winter have seen us doing what we do best and that’s sharing our knowledge of the Australian Outback with our travelling companions. An ambitious program was established to trial full on camping trips, allowing us to take advantage of some isolated and very beautiful locations. Although successful, we have made a decision to revert back to fully accommodated outback travel, mainly because of the quality of accommodation that now exists in some key locations. This will allow us more time to pamper our guests instead of carrying out mundane and time consuming jobs that go with camping.

Our most exciting news is that our brand new website is now up and running. Information regarding individual experiences is now a lot easier to find, and the break up of our core businesses is more identifiable.

We look forward to being a part of your next Outback Experience.

What's been happening?

Corner Country Experience

We trialled a new time slot for our Corner Country Experience and have now locked it into March/April of each year. The result was great weather conditions, with hardly a cloud sighted. The stable weather with little wind meant we could give some boomerang throwing lessons, as well as the usual boules over lunch. The interaction we have with the owners of the sheep and cattle stations we stay at are a big hoot with everyone and are a highlight of this outback experience. Still our favourite trip!!

The Rotary Outback Rumble

The high priest in charge of weather must have known that this was our maiden camping voyage because the gauntlet was definitely thrown down! With all roads in the Strzelecki Desert region closed due to rain, we were lucky not to be detained (local knowledge helps!!). Our intrepid guests weathered the experience magnificently, and in return were treated to some unexpected accommodation enhancements. Cocktails on the edge of the Simpson Desert with the sun setting to the west was one of the many highlights of this unique experience.
